Backyard Food Garden
EASY. FUN. EDUCATIONAL
A backyard vegetable patch is a great way for children to learn where their food comes from. It can also help them become more interested and involved in food preparation. For example, picking some tomatoes for a salad, or herbs for a homemade sauce.
SMALL OR EXTRAVAGANT
Creating an edible garden can start from potted herbs on the window seal, to several herbs, vegetables and fruit trees in the backyard!
HOW TO START
Seeds and seedlings can be found at your local hardware store or some supermarkets. Organic seeds are available in selected organic green grocers. Or, ask friends and family who grow herbs and vegetables for some seeds from their crops.
